A Powerful Verse

Categories: Inspiration,The Poetic Difference

This is a lovely video featuring Robin Williams’ speech for the boys in Dead Poets Society, one of my favorite films. He reminds the prep school boys moving towards their career pursuits and the future ahead that poetry, art, passion is the thing that makes us sing, makes us love, makes us want to live well. Our work can be our passion. Our work can be our art, if, and only if, we show up to it every day in the best possible way, knowing it’s not just a job, or just a meeting, but a part of our lives within which we are choosing to engage. The grand scheme, the noble plan . . . you are the author, the poet, of your life. “The powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.”
